CULTURE: Germinate at 60°F/16°C for 21 days. Press seed into soil but do not cover. Sow seed indoors Feb. l5th. for pak sales. Can also be sown outdoors spring or fall. Will flower from June to August. Excellent choice for a perennial border, attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. Also used as a mint herb in some oils and perfumes. A member of the mint family, it prefers moist, rich soil and full sun or partial shade. Soil may be supplemented with organic material such as peat moss or leaf mold. Space plants 12 - 18 in/43 - 72 cm apart. Remove faded blooms to promote continuous blooming. Do not allow "bee balm" to dry out. Susceptible to powdery mildew - avoid this by thinning stems and choose an area where good air circulation is found.
