Impatiens

Wallerina type impatienshave a definite preference for shade and are a great way to have long lasting color in shady areas of your garden. Whereas the New Guinea sun impatiens are bred to withstand intense sun and heat. All Impatiens require a constantly moist soil and thrive in high in organic matter. They will not survive drought or a hard freeze.

Please note Wallerina type impatiens (shade loving impatiens) are very susceptible to Downy Mildew. This devastating disease is becoming more common in North America especially during hot humid summers. New Guinea type impatiens (sun impatiens) are NOT susceptible to the disease.
