STATICE

Annual Approximately 11,000 seeds per oz/28 g

GREENHOUSE: Sinuata types are grown outside by the acre in Florida (approx. 6.5 oz/l 80 g per acre) and are sown about July 30th for Jan.15th harvests, then cut and shipped to the north for sale. In the north seed should be sown in greenhouse beds (deeply worked) during early Jan. for May cutting. Seed may also be started in flats during March for August. In either case - use light, well drained sandy soil or seedling mix and water thoroughly before sowing. Cover seed lightly with soil and firm. Keep moist. Germinate @ 70°F/21°C soil temp. for 14 days, using warm water when moistening. Keep seed flat in complete darkness until germination is complete (germination is irregular). Do not over-water seedlings or starve them of nutrients - they will turn yellow.

DIRECT SOWING: Sow outdoors in a warm sunny location, in rows 16 in/41 cm apart June 1st (as above) for fall cutting. Harvest flower stalks like asters during late summer and early fall. Hang branches to dry in your cellar. Used for dried bouquets.
