PEROVSKIA

A First-Year-Flowering Perennial.   Approximately 28,350 to 36,850 seeds/oz (1000 to 1500 seeds/g)  Spacing :16-24 in/41-61 cm    Height :18-36 in/46-91 cm Width :14-28 in/36-71 cm

Perovskia is a day-neutral plant. Vernalization is not required, but it does have a high light requirement (a light accumulator for flowering). It is one of the easiest perennials to grow from seed. Blooms July – September.

CULTURE: Sow 1 seed per cell in 288 or 180 plug trays end of February. Sow at 65 to 72°F (18 to 22°C). Cover the seeds with vermiculite to improve moisture for uniform germination. Use a well-drained, disease-free, soilless media with a pH of 5.8 to 6.2. Germination takes 2 to 4 days. Grow at 65 to 68°F (18 to 20°C) after germination occurs. Transplant 6/7wk plug into 4” pot (10.5 cm). Transplant end of May in full sun. 140 days from sowing to flowering. Pinching is recommended and can be done 2 to 3 weeks after transplant; leave 4 to 5 nodes below pinching level.
