Growing Information

SAGE - a popular herb for flavoring

oz/28g contains about 3,200 seeds

CULTURE: Sow seed indoors April 1st or outside May 1st, 0.25 in/6 mm deep, cover and firm. Space rows 2 ft/61 cm apart, thin plants to 6-8 in/15-20 cm apart. Sage is a hardy perennial in most parts of North America and matures a plant about 1.5 ft/46 cm high.

HARVEST: Cut tender leaves from the plant just before the plants start to flower. Older 3 or 4 year old plants get a bit "woody" so new planting should be started from cuttings or seed every 2 years. Velvety-gray leaves are as fascinating to look at as they taste! Particularly good with sausages, cheese fondue and poultry dressing.
