GREENHOUSE: Sow indoors Feb. 15th - Mar. 1st for May sales. Sow as thin as possible. press seed into the soil surface and cover with a light dusting of fine vermiculite or soil. Maintain a soil temp. of at least 70°F/21°C for about 5 days. Use luke warm water to prevent soil temps. from dropping during watering periods. Wee Willie, the miniature type can be direct seeded into paks - just like Portulaca, for best results.
DIRECT SOWING: Sow outdoors in late April or early May for Aug. 15th. blooms. Seed should be scattered or sown in rows, as thin as possible, and covered with 1/8 in/3 mm of soil. Annual Sweet William, likes well drained sandy soil, and thrives in cooler, semi shaded areas. Cut flowers last several days and are quite fragrant.
