Onion

Onions are quite easy to grow, have a fairly short growing period, and importantly, they take up little space. They are members of the allium family, along with chives, leek, garlic shallots and ornamental alliums. The bulbs are generally round or oblong and are made of concentric layers. They can have a pungent taste and smell or be quite sweet, depending on the variety.
