LATHYRUS (Hardy Sweet Pea)
Perennial Climber Approx. 600 seeds per oz/28 g
GREENHOUSE: Sow indoors Mar. 1st in 2.25 in/6 cm peat pots at 3 seeds per pot: 1/2 in/13 mm deep, cover seed and firm. Germinate at 55°F/ 13°C soil temp. for about 20 days. Higher soil temp. will prevent germination. Keep pots in total darkness for best results. Transplant pots outdoors near a fence or trellis support about May 1st.
OUTDOOR SEEDING: Sow seed outdoors May 1st. Plant seeds in hills or group at the same depth as above. Sweet peas prefer heavy rich soil, not sandy soil. Water thoroughly during dry weather. Plants flower from July to Sept. (from an outdoor May sowing.) An excellent cut flower!
