SWEET WILLIAM

Dwarf & Tall Biennial Approx. 26,000 seeds per oz/28 g

GREENHOUSE: For perennial plant sales sow indoors about Feb. 15th., press seed into the soil surface, cover lightly and firm 1 oz/28 g sows about eight (12x20 in/48x80 cm) flats @ 600-700 seedlings per flat. Maintain soil temp. of 70°F/21°C for about 5 days. Lower growing temp. to about 60°F/16°C. Transplant in 4 or 5 weeks, about the same depth as they were in the seedling flat. Maintain good air circulation, grow fairly cool @ 50°F/10°C after transplanting. Dense clusters of fragrant, brightly colored flowers will bloom in early June, the second season from seed.

DIRECT SOWING: Sow seed outdoors where the plants are to bloom any time from spring until mid summer, for flowers the following season. Thin seedlings to about 8 in/20 cm apart before they become too crowded. This species persists by self seeding. They like well drained sandy soil and require sufficient moisture during dry weather. Trim after blooming to encourage new growth. Use a fungicide to protect plants during humid weather.
