CACTUS - Pot Plants (dwarf and tall)
Approx. 24,000 seeds per oz/28 g
GREENHOUSE: Cacti can be sown just about anytime in the greenhouse. Since they are so slow growing many growers like to get an early start, seeding them from Dec. to Mar. 1st, or July - Sept. Seeds will germinate irregularly according to species - in 5 days to 42 days or several months. So don't be in a hurry to transplant! Sow in a medium of 5 parts sharp, clean sand, 2 parts sifted loam and 2 parts peat moss or sifted leaf mold. Make sure it is sterilized! (You can substitute Jiffy Mix for the loam). Press lightly into pots. Water with lukewarm water (not too wet). Scatter seeds thinly over the surface, and press them in. Sift clean sand over the surface to a depth of the diameter of the seed. Water surface lightly (not too wet, just moist). Cover pot with a clear sheet of glass, germination is triggered by light. Seed responds to alternating soil temps of 65-80°F/18-27°C. Shade tender seedlings from direct sunlight. Transplant when large enough to handle.
DIRECT SOWING: Sow outside thinly June 15th in the hottest driest spot you can find. Re-pot in 2 months for indoor culture.
