CULTURE: An excellent cut flower which is treated by many growers just like asters. For early transplants, sow indoors Mar. 1st at 60°F/16°C soil temp. Plant seeds 1/8 in/3 mm deep, at 6 seeds per in/25 mm; cover lightly with soil. Keep seed flat in total darkness for 10 days. Transplant outside June 10th when ground warms up. Sow outdoors in rows 16 in/41 cm apart about May 15th. Thin to 8 in/20 cm apart. Cut flowers last several days and have nice thick sterns. Single flowers are quite brilliant, with many gailardia patterns and bicolor halos. Double types make an excellent tall border plant.
