CULTURE: An easy way to grow 3 of the most popular basils inone pellet. Each pellet contains a 8-14 seed mixture of the above 3 bushy 24in/60 cm popular types in one pellet. Sow pellets April 1st indoors @ onepellet per 4 in/10 cm pot, which will quickly fill each pot in 3 to 4 weeks.Germinate @ 65°F/18°C soil temp. for 7 days. Sell or transplant each potoutdoors about 8 weeks after sowing - after all danger of frost 12-16 in/30-40cm apart. This will reduce the risk of disease. After transplanting, leavesshould be harvested just before the plants begin to flower or pinch off theflowers to prolong harvesting period. Use fresh or dried leaves as a spice totomato dishes or a blend with vinegar in French dressing and poultry stuffing.Leaves have a mild flavor of Anise with a slight mint aftertaste. Make severalpellet sowings until May 1st indoors or outdoors after May 20th for aconsistent supply throughout late summer. All Sweet Basils are very tenderannuals and will not survive fall frosts.
