MORNING GLORY (Ipomea)

Seed size varies. Approx 125 - 800 seeds per oz/28 g

GREENHOUSE: Soak seed for 48 hours or nick the pointed end of the seed with a knife to speed up germination. Sow seed Apr. 15th, directly into 3 in/8 cm Jiffy Strips at 3 seeds per pot (about 5 weeks before sales). Cover seed with 1/4 in/6 mm of soil. Keep soil moist and @ 70°F/21°C until seedlings appear. If you must transplant do so about 7 days after germination. We recommend direct seeding to prevent transplanting shock. Insert a small 6 in/15 cm bamboo stake in each pot to encourage climbing and prevent seedlings from becoming entangled.

DIRECT SOWING: In milder climates, seed may be sown outdoors, after soaking, when day soil temp. reaches 65-70°F/18-2l°C. Try to sow the seed where you plant to grow the plants as morning glories are difficult to transplant. Thin or transplant when plants are 3 in/8 cm tall, to 6 in/15 cm apart and support with stakes or trellis. Thrives in regular soil, blooms all summer, in semi shade or direct sun.
