Rocco Red (Saxifraga Pellets)

(3-5 in/8-13 cm) First seed of a saxifraga X arendsii makes a vigorous short stemmed plant that fills a container well. More uniform red color. Plants bloom second year. Use for rock gardens. Hardy to Zone 4. Pkt. contains 50 pellets.

Germinate at 65 to 68°F (18 to 20°C) for 7-11 days. Light is optional. Sow 2 seeds per cell in 288 plug trays. Cover the seeds lightly with vermiculite. Transplant  into 3.5 to 5-in. (10 to 13-cm) pots after 9-10 weeks. Transplant to flower: 28 to 38 weeks. Water thoroughly and allow plants to dry back to moderate moisture level. Plants require about 12 weeks of vernalization at 41°F (5°C) and should be bulked for about 8 to 10 weeks before receiving the cold treatment. Rocco Red is a day-neutral plant with optimum growing-on  temperatures of 40 to 50°F (4 to 10°C) nights / 60 to 65°F (16 to 18°C) days. Total crop time: 37 to 48 weeks.

Plant in full sun 6-8” apart.

Direct seeding outdoors not recommended.
