GREENHOUSE- For florist cut flower material sow indoors about Mar. 15th @ 75°F/24°C soil temp. Press seed into the soil surface do not cover, as it needs light to germinate. Keep moist with luke warm water. Seed germinates in about 5 days. Transplant outside in mid June. Side dress with a good fertilizer every month until frost, to maintain flower size, keep sprayed with a good systemic for tarnish plant bug etc. Helichrysum like cool days and short day length, so flower size may be reduced a bit where summers are hot and days are long. Keep well watered.
DIRECT SOWING: Sow June 1st in rows 16 in/41 cm apart @ 5 seeds per in/25 mm (as above). In mixtures, the smallest seedlings are the best colors; so transplant as many as possible 8 in/20 cm apart - when they are 1.5 in/4 cm High. Harvest blooms in Sept. - for winter bouquets. Suspend upside down in a dry area. Dried blooms last for many years.
