GREENHOUSE: Sow indoors in pots April 15th @ 5 seeds per pot; 1/8 in/3 rnmdeep, cover seed lightly and firm. Germinate @ 65-75 degree F/18-24 degree C soil temp. for 20 days. Sow directly into 2.25 in/6 cm peat pots and thin to the strongest seedling. Calliopsis are difficult to transplant. Grow @ 60 degrees F/16 degrees C. Transplant in rows for florist cutting, 12 in/31 cm apart, spacing plants 10 in/25 cmapart in the row. Stake plants to help the thin wiry stems keep heavy daisy-like flower heads erect.
HOME GARDEN: Sow seed outdoors in rows or groups, as above, in late April. Thin seedlings 6 weeks from seeding to 10 in/25 cm apart. An annual form of Coreopsis, and one of the easiest flowers to grow.
